They say, of course, that a picture is worth a thousand words. And, gosh darn it, I came home from this adventure with 1,564 photos. Let’s see…that’s 1,564,000 words. More words than War and Peace, Les Miserables, and Atlas Shrugged combined!
Which is precisely the danger of point-and-shoot cameras: you point and shoot them.
“What a beautiful view!” Snap.
You walk five feet.
“What an even more beautiful view!” Snap.
You walk another five feet….
You get the idea: multiple pictures of fundamentally the exact same image.
And my camera is waterproof, so I was pointing and shooting while we were floating, too!
I have finally waded through all of the images and edited them down to a few that I hope capture the feeling of the Refuge and the driving adventure without totally overwhelming you. They are posted on THE PHOTOS page for you to enjoy.
Considerate it a graphic novel. I’ll save the million and a half words for another post.
